Iron
and steel slag is an inevitable by-product of iron and steel making
processes. Because of its various useful properties, slag is gaining
recognition as both a marketable product and recyclable resource.
The primary
objective of the Nippon Slag Association is to promote a better understanding
of iron and steel slag among such industry sectors as road construction
and concrete manufacturing, public authorities and academic circles,
to position this by-product as a viable commercial product and thereby
pave the way for its stable supply.
Our
ultimate target is to create a recycling-oriented society that is
dedicated to preserving the earth's resources.
To
meet this ambitious goal, the association performs the following activities.
1. Research
quality and technologies for iron and steel slag products

Investigate maintenance,
quality improvement and application technologies

Collect and distribute
information concerning application and manufacturing technologies
used Japan as well as other countries

Promote popularization
of application technologies

Enhance development and
public recognition of uses

Oversee technical coordination
with related sectors of industry
